For as long as Scientology has existed it has had its critics. The criticism covers the actions of the Church of Scientology and related organizations, the work of L. Ron Hubbard itself, and the church's way of dealing with criticism.

Fair Game Edit

In 1967 Hubbard set out the Fair Game policy for dealing with critics allowing them to be declared enemies of the church, called Suppressive Persons, and "may be deprived of property or injured by any means... May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed."^[1]

Whilst this policy was replaced in 1968, critics argue that only the usage of the term was ended and the practice itself continues, highlighting "HCO Policy Letter of October 21, 1968", which states "The practice of declaring people FAIR GAME will cease. FAIR GAME may not appear on any Ethics Order. It causes bad public relations. This P/L does not cancel any policy on the treatment or handling of an SP."
