Help:Vanity page
A vanity page in Scienowiki is a page, an article short or long about an individual--often the page's primary author--that does not belong in the main article space.
L. Ron Hubbard, founder of Scientology, obviously should have a biographical article in the main article space of Scienowiki. Just as obviously, Jane Whatever, who thought about doing a comm course once, should not. Where does one draw the line? What determines whether an individual warrants an article or not?
The current policy is that anyone can have a vanity page if they want, but it goes in the User namespace. So if Jane had registered herself in Scienowiki as Whatever, her vanity page would be located at User:Whatever. It is permissible to have a redirect from Jane Whatever to User:Whatever.
It is technically possible to edit another's user page, but generally impolite to do so, although correcting obvious typos could be acceptable.
Such personal or biographical third-person articles in the main space are restricted to active delivery terminals, those who are delivering to paying customers in present time. This elevates the status of front-line delivery terminals, as it should.
What about other well-known Scientologists? David Miscavige? John McMaster? Tom Cruise? Surely these people rate articles of their own?
Yes, thse people do, although Scienowiki is about Scientology and so Tom Cruise's article would be mainly about that aspect of his life and not details of his movie career.
How about the ED of Keokuk org? He's been on post for ten years and all the Scientologists in Keokuk know him.
Realistically, if someone devotes the time and effort to greatly expand the existing article about Keokuk, to show the part the org has played in Scientology there over the years, the history of the org and its staff, and so on, then the extent of all that might warrant the ED having his own article, especially if his influence extended nationally or internationally. But not the mere fact that he's been the ED. A sentence or so--even a paragraph or two--if it should go in Scienowiki at all would probably best belong in the main article about the org.
Currently the founder of Scienowiki and the founder of IFA have biographical articles.
On their user pages.
