The Church of Scientology is an umbrella term that covers all the separate corporations that it legally comprises. It is often abbreviated C of S, CofS or CoS and pronounced as "Cee of Ess". The Church of Scientology is the official and formal governing religious order of Scientology (religious ideology). The Church of Scientology is recognised in most nations, with the exception of some. The Church has a number of scientologist chains, associations or pro-scientology organisations who are closely alligned to the Church itself and usually governed by relatives of the leader.

The CoS is sometimes disparagingly called the Co$, because of their notorious high prices.
